WRITE to Be Understood is for anyone who wants to express themselves with the written word, whether in structured, formal ways at work or creatively, or for social media posts, particularly LinkedIn.
And why not use ChatGPT or generative AI, you might ask. Of course, generative AI can produce content.
WRITE to Be Understood is for those times when you want to be sure that what you have written accurately conveys your thoughts, your views and your opinions – the best you can.
There are the basic, technical aspects or building blocks of good writing – vocabulary, spelling, grammar and punctuation. Proficiency in these can be built through self-learning and consistent practice.
Where communication coaching can help is with the softer aspects – clarifying the message to be delivered, structuring it for coherence, expressing it such that the words accurately reflect the thought or idea in your mind. But most of all putting it all together so that your words elicit emotion, whether you are conveying your conviction, influencing opinion or persuading someone to act on your request.
In effect, how do you make yourself understood – so as to minimise ambiguity.
My work with you will focus on making yourself understood as clearly as possible in your written communication.
You will bring to our session a piece that you have written and we will put to use proven communications techniques and the 5-step framework to construct a coherent, compelling narrative – whether that is a piece of professional writing or a LinkedIn post. You will have clear, practical and actionable points, which you can use to revise the draft.
We will also cover the techniques of effective communication that were used during the session and how these can be applied for any written communication that you produce in future. The aim is to bring a lasting change to your approach to writing.
